A special needs adoption involves a special needs child. A special needs child fits into at least one of the following categories:
Two years of age or older
Member of a sibling group of two or more children who must be placed together
A child with a medical condition or physical challenge, as determined by a physician licensed to practice in Indiana or other state medical board
A child with a mental, emotional developmental or educational challenge as determined by a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist licensed to practice in Indiana or other state licensing board
