Departments need to follow procedures for turning in their departmental collections and report of collections. The custody of those collections does not pass to the Treasurer until the Treasurer has issued a Treasurer's receipt and taken custody of the collections for deposit. If money is left with the Auditor, any loss of that money will be the responsibility of the department.
