ISBVI’s Health Center is staffed around the clock by Registered Nurses under the direction of the Director of the Health Center. The nursing staff works closely with parents, staff, and the child's physician (as appropriate) to develop the best plan of care for the student while in attendance at the School. While it is the responsibility of parents and guardians to schedule, transport and participate in their child’s medical and dental appointments, ISBVI Health Center personnel may accompany children to medical, vision, dental and emergency exams under special circumstances. Emergency medical care is available 24 hours a day through various hospitals and facilities in the greater Indianapolis Area. At ISBVI, all medications are kept in the Health Center. Daily and routine medications are dispensed only by the RN, and with written doctor's orders. Trained personnel may administer medications during off campus activities and events. Parents are contacted by Health Center staff when their child is not feeling well or emergency situations occur. The Health Center is utilized by students who need to be isolated while they are sick. If a child is going to be ill for an extended period, the parents will be contacted to take their child home.
