First, agencies do not pay user fees to join SAFE-T. The IPSC will build and maintain 126 communication sites. Participating public safety agencies then, only need to purchase and maintain user and dispatch center equipment. SAFE-T is not a "one solution fits all" network - agencies can participate in several ways. The IPSC will work to integrate existing communications systems when technologically feasible, meaning agencies need not necessarily scrap their present equipment and purchase all new equipment in order to join SAFE-T.
