The U.S. FDA authorized the Moderna vaccine for children 12 to 17 years old under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), meaning the vaccine was proven safe and effective for this age group. The most commonly reported side effects in the clinical trial participants include, pain, redness and swelling at the injection site, tiredness, headache, muscle pain, chills, joint pain, underarm swollen lymph nodes in the same arm as the injection, nausea and vomiting and fever.
