There are no approved antiviral pills authorized for the treatment of COVID-19 in the United States. The pharmaceutical company Merck has applied for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for its oral antiviral medication, molnupiravir. The FDA is expected to decide whether or not to authorize Merck’s medication soon. Pfizer has also asked for authorization of its COVID-19 antiviral pill, but there is no timeline for its approval yet. Information on who is eligible to receive the pills and where they will be located will be shared if and when the antiviral medications receive EUA.
