On Oct. 29, the U.S. FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine for children 5-11 under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), meaning the vaccine was proven safe and effective for this age group. The Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccine is fully approved for use in people age 16 and older, and the Moderna (Spikevax) is fully approved for ages 18 and older.
