Staff who have close physical contact and provide daily medical care, such as suctioning, G-tube feedings, medication administration, diabetic and wound care, and toileting, to special education students in the classroom during the school day, are eligible to receive vaccine.
This is not a new eligibility, as these individuals have been eligible since Phase 1A when vaccine was made available to school nurses and others who provide medical care to students on a regular basis. See the vaccine eligibility description here: https://www.coronavirus.in.gov/files/Eligibility%201.5.21.pdf.
Other staff working in pre-school, daycare, early childhood, or K-12 classrooms are NOT eligible to receive vaccine at this time.
Eligible staff who are primary medical caregivers should register for vaccine as a healthcare provider and must bring a letter from their principal or administrator attesting that they meet the above criteria and provide daily medical care to special education students. Please that you must live in Indiana to receive vaccine here, and proof that you are an Indiana resident is required at the appointment. You will not have to show proof of U.S. citizenship.
