CDC guidance says it typically takes a few weeks for the body to build immunity after vaccination. It is important to continue to wear your mask over your nose and mouth, practice social distancing (stay at least 6 feet apart), continue to frequently wash your hands and use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Although the vaccine will protect you from getting sick, we do not know yet if it will keep you from spreading COVID-19 to others. More studies are needed to understand how new variants may affect the effectiveness of existing COVID-19 vaccines.
