An antibody test looks for the presence of antibodies, which are our body’s response to infections. Following a COVID-19 vaccine (shot), COVID-19 antibody tests will be positive. This does not mean a person has COVID-19.
A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test looks for genetic material of the virus. Since neither authorized vaccine (shot) contains live virus, the vaccines (shots) will not produce a positive result on a PCR test.
