Turtles will generally migrate from pond to pond on their own in spring and summer months. Most turtle species are harmless, beneficial scavengers that are little threat to fish and wildlife. The diet of most turtles is primarily plants, although they will eat sick fish, crayfish, or sometimes small minnows. Remember that it is illegal to take any endangered turtle from the wild. Game species can be taken with fishing or hunting license. For all regulations on taking turtles from the wild please refer to the latest fishing guide.
