There are constraints associated with the grant:
- Each local government seeking to take advantage of the program needs to sign a consent letter.
- The grant also requires that 25% of funding is directed to rural government entities.
- Participants must take the Nationwide Cybersecurity Review (NCSR): a free, anonymous, annual self-assessment designed to measure gaps and capabilities of a SLT’s cybersecurity programs. It is based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework and is sponsored by DHS and the MS-ISAC.
