Fair housing is having equal access to housing opportunities regardless of your race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, disability or because you have children under age 16. A housing provider-whether it be a landlord, a real estate agent, a mortgage lender or a home insurance company-cannot deny you the opportunity to rent, buy, sell, obtain insurance, mortgage financing, home improvement loans or in any other way treat you less favorably because of any of these characteristics, as long as you are qualified. Additionally, if you are a person with a disability, you have a right to reasonable accommodations in policies or modification in the property so that you may equally enjoy the dwelling.
