For an attorney accepting appointments in a county that receives reimbursement from the Public Defense Fund, the Public Defender Commission sets the maximum number of appointments in a 12-month period that an attorney may accept and remain in compliance with the Commission's Standards. Standard J lists the maximum number of assignments for full-time and part-time attorneys.
A participating county must have all attorneys who accept public defense appointments in compliance with Standard J to remain eligible to receive reimbursements from the Public Defense Fund.
